straybird is led by Lucy Cash and Becky Edmunds, two independent artists whose practices have spanned dance, live art and moving image disciplines. As straybird, Lucy and Becky undertake co-directed moving image projects, innovative curations and co-teaching of workshops, enjoying the different perspective that work made through dialogue brings.
Here at straybird we’ve spent quite a lot of time in 2012 thinking about what matters. Firstly in January we made a film for the annual State Of The Arts Conference about why the arts are important, which you can see here.
Then in April we curated a festival called What Matters at Siobhan Davies Studios, bringing together a diverse range of works drawn from live performance and moving image – all of which had something particular that mattered to them. And in October we’re making something called Small Matters for Dance Umbrella, 2012.
